Dear Karumari Amman Devotees,
We are excited to announce our plans to build chariots for Karumari Amman, Ganesh, and Murugan. This monumental project is a significant step in enhancing our temple’s spiritual offerings, and we warmly welcome donations from devotees to support this noble cause.
Your generous contributions will be acknowledged with a tax deduction receipt, which you can collect at the end of the year.

The day is filled with grand processions, rituals, and the burning of effigies of Ravana, symbolizing the destruction of evil. People also consider Vijaya Dasami an auspicious day to start new ventures, educational pursuits, or important tasks, as it signifies success and the overcoming of obstacles.
During the ritual, devotees prepare a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva using rice flour or mud, often placing it on a decorated platform. Offerings such as fruits, flowers, turmeric, kumkum, and special food items like prasadam are presented. Devotees chant prayers and mantras, invoking the divine couple’s blessings for well-being and success in life. The vratham is believed to have the power to remove obstacles, grant wishes, and bring about spiritual and material prosperity.
This ritual also marks the devotion of Goddess Parvati toward Lord Shiva, as the legend states that she performed this vratham to reunite with him.
The vrat typically involves fasting, performing special poojas, chanting Murugan’s mantras, and offering flowers, fruits, and sweets. Observing Krittika Vratham is believed to bring prosperity, remove obstacles, and grant good health to devotees. It holds special significance in Tamil Nadu and other parts of South India.
Devotees fast throughout the day and break the fast after sighting the moon, performing special prayers and offering Lord Ganesha sweets like modaks. Observing this vrat is believed to bring relief from hardships, success in endeavors, and peace of mind.
Devotees fast and engage in prayers and meditation throughout these six days, seeking the blessings of Lord Murugan for strength, protection, and the removal of obstacles. The fasting can vary, with some opting for a full fast, while others may consume only one meal a day. Temples dedicated to Lord Murugan witness special poojas, abhishekams, and processions during this period. The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, with the Soorasamharam reenactment being a grand event, showcasing Murugan’s battle and ultimate triumph over the demon. Skanda Shashti is a time of spiritual renewal and deep devotion for followers of Lord Murugan.
